I wanted to do a quick video to introduce myself and tell you all why I started The Female Dancer blog/vlog…. whatever we may choose to call it.
My name is Abbi and I run a dance company called Darley Dance, before that I ran a dance school. I have been training as a dancer my whole life and I have been working with dancers on many different levels since I started as a choreographer nearly 20 years ago.
I set up this website as I wanted a place for dancers to come and find answers and see that they can follow their passions and dreams of becoming a professional dancer. I’m always asked so many questions by dancers and I decided if I can’t answer the questions myself then I’m going to do whatever I can to try and find the answers from someone who does know.
The reason that I called this website The Female Dancer is not because you guys aren’t welcome it’s simply because my experience is from a female dancer point of view and from working, the majority of the time, with female dancers and I’m sticking with what I know.
Please know that any advice given on this platform is simply in my opinion or in the opinion of the people we talk to. We know that there are many different ways to do things, this is simply one view and one opinion usually based on personal experience.
I hope that this place becomes somewhere where dancers can ask any questions without feeling judged or stupid. I will also post tips, interviews and behind the scenes videos to show you what it’s like to work as a professional dancer. If you have any questions then please drop us an email and if you enjoyed this video then be sure to join us here we’ll keep you posted each week when a new video comes out. Don’t worry there’s no spam here just a weekly update.
We have lots of ways that you can follow us but our favourite is Instagram so follow us here @darleydance
Look forward to sharing everything we have in store for you,
