I think that most dancers I speak to now would like to be a dancer on a cruise ship at some point in their careers. It may not be their only goal and it may not be forever but I know that it’s definitely on most dancers bucket list!
As cruise ships get bigger and better and taking a cruise becomes more and more popular it’s inevitable that being a dancer on a cruise ship is one of the jobs that I get asked about the most.
It’s a job that so many dancers want because they know that they can travel the world whilst doing what they love. That’s exactly what Heather has done!
Heather Parkin is a professional dancer and has danced on cruise ships for years. In fact her first job out of college was on a cruise ship and she soon started to love life at sea.
Here is a clip from my interview with Heather where we talk all about what it’s really like to be a dancer on a cruise ship and what advice Heather would give to her 18 year old self.
I am so lucky to have worked with so many lovely dancers over the years and Heather is a genuinely great person. Not only is she lovely to chat to and an unexpected and cheery calm in the team but she’s also a very talented performer and makes it all look rather easy!
I loved chatting to Heather for this interview and I love the idea that dancers are becoming more supportive of one another. If the experienced dancers like Heather are leading the way by simply being kind and not bitchy then here’s hoping the ripple effect will have an impact on the industry as a whole.
Plus Heather is also an ice hockey fan so you can imagine how happy that makes me!
You can hear Heather’s interview in full on our forthcoming podcast. To be the first to hear about when it will be launched be sure to sign up for our updates below.
I just want to say a huge thank you to Heather for this interview and I can’t wait for you all to hear the full version on our podcast.
If you want to catch Heather dancing then the good news is that she’s back on dry land and performing all over the UK in the current tour of Fast Love, which looks amazing and is a must for any George Michael fans out there!

I hope you enjoy the interview and for all you dancers out there wanting to join the cast on board a cruise ship then good luck & bon voyage!
