I absolutely love ice hockey and at this event my dancers get to be ice hockey cheerleaders for the EIHL and as far as I’m concerned that is one of the best jobs in the world! This is one of our fave events of the year!
Our cheerleaders are so grateful that we get to be part of the EIHL POFW (Elite Ice Hockey League Play Offs Finals Weekend) in Nottingham at the Motorpoint Arena. This event is electric and whilst the hours may be quite long and their dancing legs get tired our dancers are always desperate to take part.
Ice hockey is probably my absolute favourite sport and watching it live is so exciting and exhilirating even in a small arena. In fact in the small arena’s it’s easy to feel like you are part of the action and easy to get carried away with your screaming! Maybe that’s just me! Having said that I also think that the POFW is on a new level. Fans from all 10 EIHL clubs come together and a mix of hockey jerseys fill Bolero Square outside the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. Each of our 10 cheerleaders represents a different team in the league and their favourite bit of the weekend is going out and finding their relevant fans and mascots. The hockey fans are just amazing and embrace us as one of their own which we love. There is often a lot of debate amongst the girls about who gets to represent which team and rivalry begins in rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the event as the girls watch eagerly to see who will make the finals.
For one weekend in April we get to be loud and proud and join in with the hockey chants and feel like we’re part of the hockey family and we absolutely love it!
